FAVORITE THINGS! MY SILENT NEW YORK NIGHT BY LENA HART

Thank you for letting RWA/NYC add a little romance into your holiday season, as our member authors shared their Favorite Things this past week.

Happy Reading and Happy New Year!

FAVORITE THINGS!
By Lena Hart

My top five favorite things of 2015:

1.            Dropbox (I don’t know where to begin to express my love for this gem!)
2.            Netflix (has allowed me to catch up on many a missed show)
3.            Google Hangout (I get to see and chat with friends and family, far and wide)
4.            Columbia medium roast coffee (who knew I’d actually become a coffee drinker…)
5.            Zaro’s bakery (I can always rely on them to make a long day better with a cheese Danish)♥

ABOUT THE AUTHOR:  Lena Hart is a Florida native currently living in the Harlem edge of New York City. Though she enjoys reading a variety of romance genres, she mainly writes sensual interracial romances with a flare of suspense and mystery. When Lena is not busy writing, she's reading, researching, or conferring with her muse. To learn more about Lena and her work, visit LenaHartSite.com.

FAVORITE THINGS! HOW TO FALL BY REBECCA BROOKS

RWA/NYC wishes to add a little romance into your holiday season.
Join us this week as we showcase our member authors and their Favorite Things!

Happy Reading and Happy New Year!

FAVORITE THINGS!
By Rebecca Brooks

Long showers. Endorphins after working out. Solving a problem in a manuscript. Finally nailing something I didn’t think I could do. Going for long walks and letting my mind wander. Being outside in the sun. Being outside in the snow. Being outside on bright blue days when it’s so cold everyone else thinks you’re crazy. Lakes, ponds, the ocean. Snow-peaked mountains. Rolling green hills. Making people laugh.

Thinking I don’t have time to grab coffee/grab a beer/grab lunch with a friend and then making that time because, of course, I do have time for what matters. Starting a new project and watching the kernel of an ideal grow into an actual book. Cat tummies. Ridiculously expensive, ridiculously dark single origin chocolate. Hugs. Dancing in my living room. Getting to love someone.

Writing—every stage of the process, even the parts that are infuriating. Traveling alone. Curling up with a favorite book and being completely transported. Trees. Picnics. People-watching. Any place with a view.♥

ABOUT THE AUTHOR:  Rebecca Brooks lives in New York City in an apartment filled with books. She received a PhD in English but decided it was more fun to write books than write about them. She has backpacked alone through India and Brazil, traveled by cargo boat down the Amazon River, climbed Mt. Kilimanjaro, explored ice caves in Peru, trekked to the source of the Ganges, and sunbathed in Burma, but she always likes coming home to a cold beer and her hot husband in the Bronx. Her books are about independent women who leave their old lives behind in order to try something new—and find the passion, excitement, and purpose they didn’t even know they’d been missing.

FAVORITE THINGS! DEVIN DECEMBER BY KATE MCMURRAY

RWA/NYC wishes to add a little romance into your holiday season.
Join us this week as we showcase our member authors and their Favorite Things!
Happy Reading and Happy New Year!

FAVORITE THINGS!
By Kate McMurray

Among my favorite things are those that you can only see in New York at the holidays: bustling holiday markets, lit trees taller than your apartment building next to giant menorahs, tastefully decorated brownstones, gourmet hot chocolate, some guy with a saxophone playing “Silver Bells” on a subway platform, even the Christmas tree stand in front of my apartment, which gets noisy but keeps my living room smelling like pine throughout December.♥

ABOUT THE AUTHOR:  Kate McMurray is an award-winning romance author and an unabashed romance fan. When she’s not writing, she works as a nonfiction editor, dabbles in various crafts, and is maybe a tiny bit obsessed with baseball. She has served as President of Rainbow Romance Writers, the LGBT romance chapter of Romance Writers of America, and is currently on the board of RWANYC. She lives in Brooklyn, NY.

FAVORITE THINGS! NO LOVE LOST BY TROY STORM

RWA/NYC wishes to add a little romance into your holiday season.
Join us this week as we showcase our member authors and their Favorite Things!
Happy Reading and Happy New Year!

FAVORITE THINGS!
By Troy Storm

Ches, the hunky white guy in Troy Storm's NO LOVE LOST, only hopes for a good night's sleep. Horrendous nightmares still occasionally rip the quiet midwestern small-town nighttime he has returned to. His best bud, and the hunky black guy who has been his salvation, Josey's favorite thing is to know he's been accepted by the locals as a productive member of the conservative community and hope the feds don't track him down as an illegal. Maddie's favorite thing is hope. She's screwed up along the way a couple of times, but has found a new job, and a new reason to return to her roots and has a renewed sense of purpose. It gets her just what you might expect. A tough road to hoe. But in the long run...

In the long run, my favorite thing, other than my gorgeous wife of fifty years, and our two terrific kids of nearing the same, is to be able to write stories and make sure it all comes out great in the end. And chocolate.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR:  John Lovelady has been writing romantic erotica as Troy Storm for a couple of decades. You can follow him on Facebook: www.facebook.com/troy.storm.184. His ebooks are available everywhere quality hot stuff is sold.

FAVORITE THINGS!
By Stacey Agdern

I love seeing friends and family, but over the past few years, one of my favorite things has become visiting very close friends who live down in Virginia.  We relax, drink coffee, see movies, explore the area (doing anything from random adventures to visiting historic sites), go shopping, eat great food and just have quality time.  I’ve visited them during all times of the year and I’ve often said that time with them makes my soul feel better.  Interesting related fact: I started ‘A Home for Hanukkah’ (my contribution to Burning Bright) at their dining room table J

ABOUT THE AUTHOR:  Stacey Agdern is an award winning former bookseller who has reviewed romance novels in multiple formats and given talks about various aspects of the romance genre.  She is also a romance writer.  You can find her on twitter at @nystacey.  She’s a proud member of both LIRW and RWA/NYC.  She lives in New York, not far from her favorite hockey team’s practice facility

FAVORITE THINGS! THE GREATEST GIFT BY FELICE STEVENS

RWA/NYC wishes to add a little romance into your holiday season.
Join us this week as we showcase our member authors and their Favorite Things!
Happy Reading and Happy New Year!

FAVORITE THINGS!
By Felice Stevens

My favorite thing is vacation with my family.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR:  I have always been a romantic at heart. I believe that while life is tough, there is always a happy ending just around the corner. I started reading traditional historical romances when I was a teenager, then life and law school got in the way. It wasn’t until I picked up a copy of Bertrice Small and became swept away to Queen Elizabeth’s court that my interest in romance novels became renewed.

But somewhere along the way, my tastes shifted. While I still enjoy a juicy Historical romance, I began experimenting with newer, more cutting edge genres and discovered the world of Male/Male romance. Once I picked up her first, I became so enamored of the authors, the character-driven stories and the overwhelming emotion of the books, I knew I wanted to write my own.

I live in New York City with my husband and two children and hopefully soon a cat of my own. My day begins with a lot of caffeine and ends with a glass or two of red wine. I practice law but daydream of a time when I can sit by a beach somewhere and write beautiful stories of men falling in love. Although there is bound to be angst along the way, a Happily Ever After is always guaranteed.

FAVORITE THINGS! TIMELESS MOMENTS BY RUTH A. CASIE

RWA/NYC wishes to add a little romance into your holiday season.
Join us this week as we showcase our member authors and their Favorite Things!
Happy Reading and Happy New Year!

Favorite Things!
by Ruth A. Casie

Without a doubt, my favorite thing for the holiday is gathering the family. Our three children are grown and on their own. They call almost daily on their way home from work. It’s really funny. When they get to their driveway the conversation ends… to be continued tomorrow.
Our two daughters and their families live nearby. We live in New Jersey. Our son lives in Boston. To accommodate everyone’s schedule we unceremoniously move holidays to a convenient weekend. That Saturday everyone moves back home.

We watch ‘the game’ (whichever is on), go out to the park (it’s across the street) and toss or kick a ball around. More recently we’ve been playing the Wii. Everyone, including the grandchildren, take a turn at tennis, boxing, or their favorite, bowling. Everyone helps make a big dinner although the menu never seems to change. We stay up late to talk and eat. Everyone is exhausted and full by the time we get to bed, but somehow can manage French toast for breakfast. After breakfast everyone leaves.

I’m thankful for the quiet when they leave but look forward to the tumult of their next visit. The special time with my children and their families, when I have them all to myself, is my favorite thing.♥

ABOUT THE AUTHOR RUTH A. CASIE:  I’ve always had stories in my head.  Not too long ago, my family and friends encouraged me to share them. Now, rather than writing corporate communications and marketing materials I’m writing the novels I love to read, historical fantasies and contemporary romances, about strong empowered women and the men who deserve them. I hope their adventures become some of your favorite stories. Please visit me at www.RuthACasie.com or visit me on my Facebook page, @RuthACasie, Twitter, @RuthACasie, and on Pinterest RuthACasie. one of New York's Leading Romance Authors.

THE GREATEST GIFT
by Felice Stevens

After five years, Alex Stern and Rafe Hazelton have what seems to be the perfect marriage. Alex is entering his last years of residency and Rafe’s veterinary business is busier than ever. For Rafe, all that is missing is a child, but Alex, afraid of ending up to be a man like his father, isn’t as sure. He doesn’t want to make any mistakes. When a new patient enters the hospital, Alex is drawn to the young, desperately ill single mother, who shares her fears for the future of her young son. Rafe worries about the toll on Alex becoming emotionally invested in a patient, yet he too can’t walk away once he meets the little boy, and together they vow to help in any way possible. Families are not always born of blood— love is a gift no one can plan for. And sometimes from the darkest of tragedies, the brightest light will shine.

A HOLIDAY WISH TO YOU FROM URSULA RENEE

Harry Harrison’s “May You Always” has become a holiday tradition for me. In the spirit of one of my favorite recordings, I would like to present my wish list to you.

·         May you get that one hour each day you need to write your work-in-progress.

·         May you sit in front of the computer and your writer’s block disappear.
·
May that plot twist that came to you before you went to sleep at night be with you when you wake up in the morning.

·         May you find the inspiration to complete the work-in-progress you had been putting off for years.

·         May you find a critique partner who offers you constructive criticism that helps strengthen your work.

·         If you get a rejection, may you find someone who’ll offer you a shoulder to cry on as well as give you the push you need to get back out there.

·         May your dream editor love your manuscript and offer you a contract.

·         May your edits go smoother than you expected.

·         On that stressful day, when nothing seemed to go your way, may you get a five-star review.

·         And, last but not least, may you experience good health and happiness during the holiday season and throughout the New Year.

Happy Holidays!
